Aio=easy to use,for anyone,decent performance,small chance for maintenance

custom=hard to do,expensive,better cooling,high maintenance

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

A custom loop is not hard "to do", just requires patience and some common sense. Though it is a heck of a lot more expensive, also, maintenance is not as high as you think.

@Slyskel

The extra money required for a custom loops is not really worth it, just go with a nice AIO like a NZXT Kraken X61 or Corsair H110i GT

Maintenance will be high for a beginner not to mention building it.Finding fittings,tubes,rads and blocks is not that hard but as a first time try it's going to be anyway.As for maintenance a drain every 3-5 months is recommended not to mention leaks may come up like mushrooms

What are the benefits of a custom water cooling setup vs all-in-one cpu water cooling?

I never did my own water cooling before, and it's rather intimidating, so if the benefits aren't extreme, I'd rather just opt for a simple water cooled system.

DIY water loop looks bloody awesome.

Custom is not hard to do with soft tubing. A few youtube videos and your good. It's also not high maintenance unless you consider changing fluid out once a year high maintenance. Not saying your wrong, I'm just saying these things are open to consideration.

Actually that depends on your choice of coolant. Some requires you to change them every 6 months, others can be fine with 2 years.
