Hello,

I just built my first PC and it was a pretty ambitious build for my first. I am running a geforce gtx 980 ti, with intel i7 4790k, and 16 gig ram. The monitor that I am running is an asus pb287q (4K). I have been noticing some inconsistencies in the fps that i am getting. I realize that some variation is normal, but I have been getting some pretty wild swings. The main two games that i am running right now are Batman Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3. The Witcher is much more reliable in terms of fps, it usually hovers between 40 and 50, sometimes dipping below 40. This frame rate is fine for me. But, I did have to lower some settings to get it to that. With the 4k display on ultra settings I consistently get around 30 fps with this game, which is bad. Batman is the game that has been giving me more issues. Initially it was locked on 30 fps max, but I figured out how to change this (this was not a menu option). Setting the new max to 60 fps. With both 30 fps and 60 fps, the game dips down to 20 or even 15 fps at times, especially when in the batmobile. When it does this it is completely unplayable. The strange thing to me is that it will jump up to 50 and even 60 fps at times, however this is very inconsistent and doesn't last long. It's beautiful for a few seconds when it does this tho. Can anyone help me with achieving a higher frame rate and a more consistent frame rate when gaming in 4K res? Also, I would like to know if it would be possible to run my current set up closer to 50 or 60 fps with max settings? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Arkham Knight's PC port is garbage. You can't do much about that, except for waiting a few months for patches.

Yeah, the Witcher seems to do a lot better, but I do have to sacrifice max settings. Which isn't so bad, so long as my res is 4k. I don't really notice much difference with the lower settings. ESO also seems to do very well, Although, i have yet to actually test the fps, I've just played it and noticed visually that it looks very good. I need to get some other games and start testing them. I just want to make sure that I am at least getting normal figures, so I know my set up is ok.
