Hey guys,

My new monitor has an audio pass-through through HDMI or DisplayPort.

I'm currently using DisplayPort (Because of FreeSync), and I'm trying to get this to work properly.

If I use Microsoft's HDMI (Also for display port) audio driver, it sounds like crap (Basically no bass). But I haven't been able to get RealTek's drivers to work with DisplayPort.

Does anyone have experience with DisplayPort audio? Is there a difference between normal 3.5mm output? I assume the DAC is different with Microsoft's drivers.

If you send the audio signal through Displayport then you will be using a DAC in your monitor. That's why you can't get the Realtek drivers to work.

But why are you using the generic Micorsoft drivers? There should be an audio option in the driver for your graphics card.

I think Nvidia focuses more on the HDMI side, or am I mistaken?

While the NVidia sound drivers technically are for HDMI, they should work as well for sound through Displayport.

But should and do are two very different things... Especially when it comes to audio smh... (I'm not talking about this specifically, just audio in general, it can be a bitch...)

I do know my way around audio, and I know it can be a bitch.

And the reason I use ´should´, is becuase i don't have en extensive amount of personal experience.

However, in the personal experience that I have had, the audio has worked flawlessly through Displayport.

My current monitor is connected via Displayport to an NVidia card, and the speakers work perfectly  (they sound like ass, but that's not NVidia's fault)
