RANDOM static/sound crash(?)

I was watching a video on YouTube, and suddenly the sound from the video stops and breaks into a static/continuous popping sound. (Imagine a drum roll of pops.)

At first I thought it was just the corruption of the video player or something, but I went to play a song on my computer, and the static/pop persisted.

Even with NOTHING playing, I could hear the sound softly coming thru my headphones. I've never had this happen to me before, and it scared the hell out of me.

After about 15 seconds or so, everything went back to normal. Has ANYONE ever experienced something like this?!

 

Sound card: FiiO E10K

Headphones: Sennheiser HD 380 Pro

Maybe it's your sound card dying.

P.S. I have been using the ASIO driver off FiiO's website for the past 2 days. I previously used the DAC with the default plug-N-play Windows driver. I suspect it could be this ASIO driver.
