Do I need a new CPU?

Go to solution Solved by x Relentless Xx,

Hello guys and girls.

So, I have a i53570K running with a Z77XD3H Gigabyte motherboard. I have always had the PC running at about 4.2GHZ with the automatic overclock. You just set the clock you want, and it does the rest.

The problem I have is as soon as I put the CPU over 4GHZ now, I start to get memory errors in windows. Bluescreens etc. Could this be a RAM issue? Or drivers? Or is the CPU dying?

Thanks

That's all you have is an unstable OC. Auto overclocking isnt very reliable. Id check into manual overclocking, you get much more stable numbers that way

Well...since you auto-OC'd there's no real way to tell if you have voltage degradation or not. Where did the auto-tuner set the core voltage?

Voltage? When manually(as it should be done) you raise the clock little by little always checking stability and temps using stuff like Prime95 or AIDA after you raise it everytime then once you hit a bluescreen you raise the voltage then raise clock little by little until the same happens again and you repeat until you reach a unstable overclock with high temps and lower down to a safe overclock.

Right now I'm running at 4GHZ its a 2.60v

If it was at 2.6v the CPU would have died instantly. If you could provide a BIOS screen shot (press F12 w/a FAT32 formatted USB in the MOBO) that would be helpful.

Do some memtest86 and also up the voltage on your RAM to 1.65V if the RAM is unstable - try if that works.
