RAM upgrades!

Go to solution Solved by xTrekStorex,

well 16gigs certainly is useful and should be almost standard by now, especially on DDR4 (mine are always at at least 5-7GB load in idle - tools etc, no not malware).

but as mentioned above higher clockspeeds are close to no difference. so investing that amount of money just for the clockspeed is totally not worth it.

however if you want more RAM and can get higher clockspeeds as a sideeffect then ofc go for it.

concerning compatibility: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2011/X99-DELUXE_U31/X99_Series_DRAM_QVL_20150519_M.pdf

your RAM: HX430C15PB2K4/16 - HyperX Predator 3000MHz DDR4 CL15 16GB Kit of 4 -> page one of QVL

so yeah it is 100% compatible ;) but also crosscheck the max memory-clockspeeds of your CPU since the memorycontroller is located on there since a couple of generations

Well I'm on an ASUS X99-s MOBO and have 8GB (4x2) Crucial 2133MHz. I today found the HyperX Predator DDR4 3000MHz 16GB to be VERY appealing and not too expensive. I'm just very uneducated when it comes to compatibility, do I have to know anything except that I need DDR4 and have a MHz limit?

Don't upgrade, there wouldn't be a big difference in most tasks for switching to faster clocked ram.

Yes I feel as if my lack of RAM is my only bottleneck, which kind of disturbs me (see build on my page). But after hearing this I might go for an upgrade on my current 4x2 Crucial 2133Mhz instead.. Despite being a sucker for looks that is. Becuase man, they look just awful.

AND THANK YOU!

You suggest I simply buy more RAM? :)

Yep buy more from the same brand.
