Hey gang, just wanted to get your opinion. I am running a single 7950 (msi twin frozr ii) not getting great performance on the Witcher 3; around 45-50 fps average on high settings (overclocked core to 1150Mhz). I could probably pick up a second 7950 for an expected 150-200 AUD, or do you think it would be better to go for a brand new single gpu solution? Looking at a 390 (for around $500 AUD) or possibly a 970 (also around $500 AUD), The ideal scenario would be to run The Witcher on ultra settings with a solid 60 fps average. Thoughts?

Cheers

I disliked my crossfire set up. was such a pain. but if you could sell your card for 200 aud, how much would a  used 290 be? they are dirt cheap here

Any particular reasons why I shouldn't go crossfire?

Go for the 390 a stronger new single card is always better than two old weaker cards

The only reason to avoid crossfire or sli is the driver issue. A lot of not triple A titles just don't like it. Personally i prefer crossfire having fought with both recently, i find crossfire better than sli, but a single card is always better.

that said I'm assuming 1080 because my 980 classifieds cant get 60 fps on ultra 4k so keep that in mind. That game takes some serious beef to run high.
