Hi,

I recently sold the Andriod phone that I got with my pay monthly plan from Orange and bought an iPhone.

When looking on the internet, people are saying I need to update the carrier settings or something like that so that Orange know that I now have an iPhone and so that I can get all the features of it.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks in advance,

- Harry

Networks like Vodafone auto-detect when you change your phone and tell you that they're going to send a text message with the new internet data. That message comes through(With some fancy MMS attachment) and tapping the Install button simply updates the internet connection data.

I don't know whether the process is the same on iPhones or not. The best you can do is to either call your network and ask them to send the internet connection information, or just google 'EE mobile internet settings' (lmgtfy link) and click one of the links.

Then, in a new tab, find out how to change the internet APN on your phone to the details you just found.

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.
