I already have 2x 8-pin pci-e cable extensions.  They are sleeved in the plastic sleeving but I would really want to resleeve them with paracord sleeving so they would match my 24-pin extension from bit-fenix. I would just buy the bitfenix extensions but they're like $16 each and I can buy 100ft of paracord sleeving for $16 so i would rather just do it myself.  My question is, what size sleeving would i need for pci-e cables. I was thinking about getting this (http://www.amazon.com/mod-smart-MaxCord-Coreless-Paracord/dp/B00FP0OKDS/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1437276789&sr=8-12&keywords=paracord+sleeving) but idk if its the right size. Thank you!

I wouldn't bother buying stuff that's "designed" for sleeving. Just buy regular 550 Paracord from a camping/sporting shop. It will be cheaper.

Pretty much any paracord should be fine for sleeving, the majority of it is going to be 550lbs, 7 strand core.

EDIT: For example. this stuff will do fine. You also won't need 100ft for what you're doing. 50ft should be more than enough http://www.paracordplanet.com/Solid-Colors_c_12.html

yeah, it but dont those have like a center core thread that would have to be removed? would this work? I just watched jayztwocents' video on it and it doesnt seem too easy...

Yeah 550 paracord is cheaper, and the core is easy to remove just snip the end of it if its burnished and the cords inside will just slide out. That'll work no problem.

Yep, that will work. It's really not hard. Depending on the method you use (heatshrink vs no heatshrink) I did no heatshrink first which is supposedly harder, but there's not much to it. It's just time consuming.

This was from my first attempt. So long as you don't rush it, it's not hard:

Another question, do i have to take the pins off of the cable or can i slip the sleeving over them and then just pop the pins back into the connector.

You don't have to take the pins off. You will, however, have to tape over the pins to put the sleeve over. Paracord will snag like crazy on the small pins. I find just a small bit of masking tape wrapped around one of the pins works well. You don't want something too strong, or getting the tape off will be a pain. It takes a while to get the hang of putting the sleeving on quickly and knowing the right length.

As Oshion Shinobu said you don'y have to take the pins off, there are tools for paracord sleeving to help it go on the cable easier and quicker however.

I cant find anywhere to get their stuff. Only place I knew of was frozencpu

They have their own site. Looks like it's gone through maintenance, so it's not up right now though.

http://lutro0customs.com/

Lutro0s site has been down for some time as he merged with mod bunker and white light laser and became ModBunker, he has now split from them and lutro0 customs site is coming back but will take some time,  as he is currently having some personal things to deal with, plus he has been in and out of hospital recently, honestly not sure when he will be able to work on his store.

MainFrameCustoms stocks everything you need.
