Hey all, I'm looking for a decent external drive enclosure which can hold an IDE drive (maybe with the option for a SATA connector as well, since I might upgrade from the 250GB IDE drive planned to a larger SATA drive), and connects with USB (FireWire optional, but it would be nice). It would also need to have pretty solid build quality while not breaking the bank. So yeah. Budget is $50 USD or less, less is better, but I don't want a cheeseball. :)

The only enclosure I had in my hands with both IDE and SATA was a Tooq TQE-3513B

But I'm going to search :P

 

EDIT: Keep in mind that SATA-IDE enclosures might support only up to 2 TB HDDs

That should be fine. I hadn't really planned on putting anything larger than 1TB in it.

Firewire is going to be complicated tho

It's totally optional, man. I just thought it would be kinda neat to see if my FW400 card still works. :P

Hello, I'm looking for a 2.5" hard drive enclosure with USB 3.0 plug that is durable and lasts and under $50 CDN.

 

What models do you recommend? and what are the good brand names for hard drive enclosures?

I do, but before I post, I check for any similar topics or that of nature; when I see your topic "External drive enclosure" it seemed like a general or broad topic.
