Hi,

I have a Pentium G3258, and seeing how much you can benefit from overclocking this chip I thought I'd give it a try. But having never overclocked anything in my life, I have a few questions.

1. How much do I have to OC it to make a reasonable performance impact.

2. Do I need to upgrade my stock cooler with a better one so I don't fry the chip? I am aware the G3258 doesn't get super hot, so unsure on this one.

3. Also do I need a better PSU? Mine is a pretty cheap 600w one.

Thanks for all the help.

1) OC Will cause a reasonable performance increase.

2) You might want to check your CPU temps first, then upgrade the cooler if it is too hot.

3) For a non-Extreme Series CPU, the OC will not go above around double the CPU's TDP.

Even 300Mhz will give you around a 10% increase. G3258 can usually do 4.7GHz easy
2. Do I need to upgrade my stock cooler with a better one so I don't fry the chip? I am aware the G3258 doesn't get super hot, so unsure on this one.
Stock will be fine. Maybe get a 212 Evo in the future
3. Also do I need a better PSU? Mine is a pretty cheap 600w one.

Which one? It should be fine but if it's a bad one I would be careful

My PSU is a Ultra LS Series V2. Thanks for all the help?

Looks like Ultra is not a company you want a power supply from.
