Hi there!

So i am planning on upgrading my RAM capacity from 6 GB stock RAM.
To CORSAIR Vengeance 12 GB @ 1600 Mhz RAM.

I know my motherboard supports up to 24 Gbs of RAM.

Now, I have read online that the i7 920 (My Processor) only supports RAM Speeds of up to 1066 Mhz.

What will happen if I get the Corsair RAM?

Will it just be down clocked to 1066?

Thanks for your time  :)

Not sure so take my words with a grain of salt but probably yes. I believe that's the same RAM speed my lappy uses. Honestly, there won't be too much of a difference so long as it's DRR3

Go by what your motherboard says it supports in terms of RAM speeds, AFAIK what Intel says is usually a really weak general guideline. Intel says the 4690k only supports up to 1600mhz, but that's not true at all. If it doesn't support the full speed the RAM will just downclock to your motherboard's max RAM speed

At stock. My 3930K said max 1333Mhz, but I've easily pushed them to 2133Mhz. A 920 should be able to hit 1800Mhz. TL;DR: You'll be fine
