I need people to confirm it!

You will over-write the default directories windows creates / installs to.. Thats all..

If you format the disk / partition then you will lose everything on that partition.. D:\\ is a drive (partition) designation.. it depends where ou have windows installed to... Usually but does not have to be the C:\\

There's a little menu when you install Windows, I think it lets you format the partitions.

:/ Sorry

So.. the partition with the folders "program files", "Windows", "Users" is the one that windows is installed on..

When re-installing you have various options available...

You can just install over the old installation.. which will wipe anything that is in the default folders that windows creates while installing.. But will leave everything else in that partition..

You can format the partition and then install totally fresh. This will wipe ALL data from the selected partition.

You can delete and re-partition your drive. Goes without saying that you lose everything on any partition that is on that drive.

Generally I would go with the second option so as to have a fresh install but not lose your downloads / games and the like.. just be sure you move everything you want to keep first..

This should include any downloads / documents / phone or camera backups / game installs / save games (most are on the "cloud" these days but some are still stored locally and lost if you delete them... and some are stored in "My documents" just to make them easier to miss..)

Hope that clears it up.
