You'll need the following: 

A switch with at least as many ports as computers on the LAN. Gigabit is nice if you want to move files around the network, but a 100mbit switch will do.

One lan cable per person. 

One computer per person (of course )

Keep in mind that computers draw a lot of power, so don't connect all the PCs to one power plug.

Playing Dota on lan is easy if you have internet access. If you can't run a ethernet cable from your router to your switch, then you'll need to follow this instructions http://www.mabzicle.com/2014/12/how-to-play-dota2-in-offline-mode-or-no-internet.html

 

EDIT: Don't forget snacks, and some drinks (alcohol may impact player performance, but might lead to some funny shit)

A simple google search did the trick: Obiously you'll also need stuff like LAN cables and such etc, better to just use an internet connection.

Get lots of food and drinks

then set-up desks or places where you can have enough room to yell at each other

then start fighting about going top or mid in Dota 2

you could also just all play online.. u know its 2015 mate "Kappa"

Get duct tape or something like that so you can strap important and long cables to the floor, if you're going to move around then you really don't want anyone to trip and drag the switch into the floor.

 

Also get down how to setup up the computers properly in good time, I remember a first time LAN party where two hours were spent configuring the computers.
