Hi guys! This is my first post here. Hope you guys can help me. haha~ Anyway, I need help with the location of my case fan on the upper part. I only have one case fan left and thinking where to put it for efficient cooling. I have 2 location on the top for exhaust. Which location is better? Thanks. :)

If you add another exhaust, you'll have 2 intakes and exhausts. It's very difficult to get a neutral air pressure, and having negative air pressure isn't good.

Typically, you want more intake (that are filtered) than exhaust, so that you have a positive air pressure. I'd suggest:

  1. Putting an intake fan in vent 2
  2. Flipping your current exhaust fan into an intake fan with a dust cover, and putting an exhaust fan where vent 1 is, so that exhaust is pulling air straight out of your CPU, and that there's a smaller chance of having hot air blown in your face when plugging something in

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

The OP only has one fan and the top isn't filtered so the person would have to get 2 dust filters. We're looking at immediate ideas so OP should probably do it on 1 as an exhaust so that the airflow is still pretty good at one end of the case. it'll probably maintain positive air pressure. If not then your idea would work and just put like a pantyhose over the side.

Pantyhose? I'm afraid that it'll look bad to him.... Why not wait a little while and get some cheap magnetic dust filters?

Right above the CPU. My dad has been building computers for years and what he said to me when I installed my fans was "Don't think about it too much, just get as much air away from the CPU as possible while having intakes on the front"

With stock cooler I might just try to make position 1 as intake and see how temps are under load. Then flip it to exhaust and see if it makes difference.

^^^^ That's my post ^^^^
