First built pc won't boot

Go to solution Solved by Soyaman,

Hey guys, I found a red LED on my motherboard that lit red with the number 53 on it. I did a bit of googling while doing those tests you guys gave me (never dissembled it because fuck that xD) - Turns out it was a lack of memory error and I had to refit it.

Turns out it worked after placing them back in, however it took me 30 minutes to get them in place, i have a feeling I didn't put them in properly the first time.

It sounds like either a motherboard, CPU, or GPU (if you have one) problem. Swapping out these parts for another of the same type/spec/socket/type (etc) would be the simplest way to figure it out.

So we can see what we're up against a little, could you post your PC specs?

Hey, thanks for the rapid response.

Since it's my first build I wouldn't consider it mean or odd to ask if I've plugged things in correctly.

I did plug in the display properly as they were being used 2-3 hours ago with the same graphics card (from my old PC) I plugged it in with the PCI-e cable 6 pins together with a loose two pins and then adding the other 6 pins to the other slot on the GPU next to it. I'm not sure if that's how you're supposed to plug it in but I figured if it fits it sits.

But yes, I do have a dedicated graphics card.

I'm using a RM 850 corsair power supply from my old PC (stiff as hell wires - Had a hard time trying to fit the ATX into the motherboard without breaking it, I'm still not 100% sure if it's 100% fit but it doesn't bulge when I pull it gently and anymore power I felt like I'd break the board.)

My old SSD and HDD aswell as the GTX 760 was scavenged from my old PC. These parts were working fine earlier today.

I did buy a new case (irrelevant?) a new CPU and mobo aswell as RAM.

X-99-a ASUS

2113 Kingston HyperX DDR4

anda 5920k CPU.

Sorry for the somewhat short post to begin with, it was written from my phone -I'm on a laptop now so I should be able to respond much better :)

But yes, it turns on, I hear the usual crank noise when a PC is turned on, everything lits up, it sounds like it's booting but it never actually displays anything.

My personal guess would be the GPU or dodgy wiring but I'm uncertain.

Hey, Ive already everything set up. Do I need to unhook it all to do the mobo post?

The second thread mentions bios compatibility but I've not had a chance to do anything yet, do I need to stick in the disc my mobo came with ?

Bear in mind I don't even get the good old start up read which I'd imagine you get upon launch no matter the bios.

It may take that to figure out what is causing the issue. If you have a doa part following the steps in those links will help you to narrow down the culprit.

The bios update would only be necessary if you have a mobo with the wrong chipset for your cpu.

What cpu and mobo do you have?

Edit: never mind. Your mobo and cpu are compatible.

It's always a good day if you woke up breathing.
