What's the difference between the two?

Rotatable earcups... pretty much it, to be honest.

beats are great if you want to look slightly dumb and have no idea what nice headphones sound like xD.

AHAHAHHAHAHAH beats your funny, they're overpriced and have horrible sound quality

They sound good to me, of course nothing like my HD-650's 600's the AKG massdrop or the HE-400's not that I'm comparing open cans to closed, but it is more the hateboys that want to pick on the users, kind of an android vs ios situation. They are of course expensive, you are paying for the marketing more than anything, but they are not bad. I'm only talking about the Studios: http://www.amazon.com/Beats-Studio-Wired-OverEar-Headphone/dp/B00E9262IE/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1437000655&sr=1-1&keywords=beats+studio

and here: http://www.amazon.com/Beats-Studio-Wireless-Over-Ear-Headphone/dp/B00FK0ELRI/ref=sr_1_4?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1437000655&sr=1-4&keywords=beats+studio

The M50x has a silver plastic ring on the earcup and marginally more bass; and 180 earcpus vs 90 degree as mentioned. It's not worth the price premium, unless you hate money.

What do you think is a good alternative to the m50x's ? I don't want to break the bank and I already have some open back headphones, I only need a pair of closed cans that sound good, I was looking at those and some wireless stuff. (parrot zik 2.0)

The only thing bad about Beats right now is the price. The second gen Beats are really good... just not for the money.

This. Quite stoked to see beats 3rd generation tbh, they just need to reduce the bass slightly on solo 2, reduce the price by $50 if it's possible and voila, a good bang for buck bass heavy headphone

Are you looking for portable use or home use?

Kind of semi portable, something I can with me when I have to take an airplane, roadtrips, but something comfortable to wear in bed, I mostly use the AKG Massdrop edition for my PC so I want something else... Price range I think I could go as high as the Parrot Zik 2.0

I actually wish they have a second or third gen or a vastly improved Pros. I actually like the looks of those headphones, but I wish it sounded better.

Can you use IEM and do you like the idea of ear-rape for the first week?

I already have IEM's I don't like them, I need something more comfortable than that, I had the Shure 3xx's and right now I have the Shure SE215's

Sorry I don't want to seem rude but this topic ended you guys helping mxvz and discussing beats . :(

I will say it again, if only for the sake of talking to myself, but the M40x is the same as the M50x for what the M50x should cost. The DT770 is good, but it's $200, which I assume isn't going to fit the bill for "cheap".
