Hi guys, i was wondering will the performance of a gaming mouse be affected by passing it through a USB 2.0 hub? And i'm not talking any high performance hub, but a regular 10-15$ usb hub. And if i run my mouse at 1000Mhz pooling rate will it still report 1000Mhz through the hub?

In the end everything is gonna be ok;

If it's not ok, it's not the end.

It will definitely be slower. By how much, is determined by the hub. You may not even be able to tell the difference.

CPU: i5 4670k • Cooler: Corsair H100i • Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER • RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite 2x 8GB • Storage: Samsung 840 250GB SSD, 2x WD Red 3TB • GPU: EVGA GTX 780 3GB • PSU: Corsair RM750W • Case: Corsair 750D • Mouse: Razer Naga 2012 (I actually use the thing for productivity/media buttons) • Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3 w/ Browns - Green LED • Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27" 2560 x 1440, ASUS PB238Q 23" 1920x1080 • Lighting: 2m NZXT Sleeved Blue LED Strip • pcpartpicker.com/p/3cHfZ

Probably as the hub divides up the power given to the 1 usb to several usb's on the hub.

Once I had both my mouse and my wifi usb dongle connected to the frontpanel usb 2.0 connectors and when I downloaded something from our NAS and the wifi dongle was doing a lot of stuff my mouse started to lag.

Well power won't be a problem, the mouse will be the only device that will be plugged in...at least when gaming.

My concern is will it be affected to such a degree that it will affect my gaming? I mean it's normal to expect that the hub will have some effect on it, maybe like added latency, or something, but will it be that bad?

BTW I'm a high dpi gamer...if that helps in any way.

In the end everything is gonna be ok;

If it's not ok, it's not the end.
