GPU hanging down solution

Ramonman

hello

so i got my new gaming rig a few months now. and I notice that my GPU (MSI gtx 970) is hanging down a bit:

so I tried to fix it with a wooden brick that holds up the card:

now i am wondering is this any kind of trouble? will this give the system too much heat and a bad air circulation?

thanks

maybe because the gpu doesn't have enough support from the bracket?...

You'd be better off using something thinner. The block of wood will block some airflow to the GPU.

Use a chopstick.

I wouldn't worry about it. The trick I've heard before is using fishing wire and tying it to the back of the card, then the top of the case. Less airflow restriction, and its near impossible to see. (As it is fishing line...)

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

so if i make the brick thinner (or use a chopstick) this is ok? And it won't give me any kind of problems?

It restricts airflow and looks ugly. Not really an issue if you don't have a window, but still. I don't think I'd be able to work/game happily knowing that thing is inside my PC.

I had this issue on my GTX 970, I used a zip wire on the back of the card through some mounting spaces round the back. Can't see it, problem solved, and my PCI-e port isn't going to snap :)

You could also try routing the PSU cables to help pull up the card? have them coming from above it if you see my point
