Silent case

Atomicnerd64

i am looking for a silent case. I am refusing to buy the R5 because I touch my case a lot ;) and the front will just look like crap 10 minutes after I take the plastic off. Between the H440, the 652S and the silent base 800, which one should I buy and why?

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

From what i've heard the silent base 800 is the most silent one, but the 652s is also a strong competitor, with the h440 not really focusing that much on silence.

But the case itself can't block all noise from noisy fans or a noisy GPU fan, so keep in mind the interior components also have to be silent if you want a dead-silent build.

When in doubt: C4

The Define R5 uses plastic instead of aluminum so no problems with fingerprints.

The define R5 uses imitation aluminium, so it's safe from fingerprints. However, the NZXT H440, Be Quiet! silent base 800 and Nanoxia deep silent series are all good.

Silent base in orange because unique

Then from what I get is that my best bet is the Silent base 800. It is the one I was considering the most and I think I'll go eoth it :) thank you all

Are you going windowed or non-windowed?

And which color?

which one should I buy and why?

forget worrying about the case....find out how many fans you're going to need and at what RPM for good cooling/airflow and go from there and just pick whichever one looks the most pleasing to you

you can buy the most technically silent case on the planet but it will still sound like a jet engine if you pack it full of cooling fans

The are all great cases, honesltly, i would choose the one that i like the aesthetics the most. In my opinion the be quiet! one has the strongest aesthetic value, so if you like that case well, we all got that inner shallow geek that ends up making decisions :P

Reviews always help me decide, and Dimitri RULES, he didn't have a review on the 652s so i linked Linus's, Cheers!

Well, Be quiet! makes great fans, and, i have a hunch that they will match your case perfectly :P

Cougar Vortex are cheaper good quality fans too, you can buy a 4 pack for 30 bucks.

Silverstone's AP121/123/141 are great fans for focused airflow and you can strategize a bit on positions that for example blow directly to your GPU

What cooling solution are you getting? If it comes with good fans already then you don't have to worry that much, just quiet low RPM good quality fans will do the trick, i believe the case comes with the following fans, and makes sense to simply put fans in all fan mounts and run them slowly

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-case-fan-bl047

If you are deciding on a CPU cooler, i would get a noctua, a be quiet! (be quiet! is infamous for the mounting mechanism tho) a phanteks, a CRYORIG or a thermalright, since those brands come with good fans already and honestly, adding 2 high quality high SP  fans to a cpu cooler should be considered in pricing, since it can easily be an extra 30 bucks. If you want an AIO, the enermax liqtech 240 is very high quality with decent fans

All the heatsink brands i mentioned have both a dual tower and single tower CPU coolers, i didn't know what price point or even personal preference so i left it in broader terms.

I am getting a Cryorig R1 Ultimate.

Awesome, i almost got that cooler but went with an H105 in the last moment. It kicks ass, and looks sick, in my case an AIO ended up making more sense but i still want that cooler for some reason, lol.

Well looking at the fan mount on your case, i would move the included 140mm fans to the top, add 2 140mm high SP focused airflow fans on the front (AP141, NF-A14, Cougar Vortex, Silent Wings 2, any of those) I don't know if you wanna populate the bottom mount or the side one (the bottom can be restricted by PSU lenght, and side...that's up to you) For the side i recomend any of the fans i mentioned but in 120mm versions, for bottom...actually same, it has to pull air through the bottom filter and mesh, i consider that restrictive, plus any cables that may end up near by. So my recomendation would be 3 140mm (2 if you don't wanna use btm mount) and a 120mm, for looks, i think using cougar vortex or silent wings 2 would match your rig perfectly. Hope that helped!
