So i am deciding whether to upgrade my current pc (r9 280,i5-4460,h81-e33,WD Blue 1tb, 1x8gb ram) or to build a new lan pc(http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/rnG9dC), some parts I have spare. If someone thinks upgrade can you leave a upgrade list (up to the value of the lan pc). Thanks =)

Upgrade your current Rig. You have more options:
1 - Resell 280 and get a 390(x)/ Fury
2 - Get an SSD and 1 extra stick of RAM
3 - New PSU and case fans if you so desire
4 - New Monitor/2nd Monitor
5 - New Mobo/CPU cooler.

While the 280 is hard to fit in a smaller case it's certainly possible. If the titan X could fit in an mITX case then anything is possible. You could also look into gaming laptops though again, upgrading your current rig and getting a different case + an mATX board is easier.

You could get the Cougar QBX or Corsair Air 240, and get a mATX mobo for it. Sell the 280 and get a 390 or 390x. Also get an SSD and upgrade to 16GBs of RAM. Could also get a good CPU cooler and a new PSU. Then, you can take the LAN box to LANs or use it at home. Hope this helped :)

Disgusting or not, laptops are a lot more portable than a case, monitor, keyboard and headset. You just pack it in a bag and go whereas you have a lot of things to worry about with desktops including bumpy rides whereas laptops are harder (though certainly not impossible) to damage by a slightly uneven road.

As for clearance, wow, that's not bad. My 280 is a fucking giant (35cm or something along those lines). Go Asus overkill cooler ._.

mine is a gigabyte 280 so its 312mm but that 350 is with a 2.5mm thick fan installed. Also the people i go lan with have pc's too so they have spare monitors and general peripherals, but generally your right

Wait, what type of clearance do you mean? To the bottom? To the sides? To your nose? :D

I'm talking card length

i am too lazy to check mine

L=296mm W=134mm H=43mm

If Gigabyte's site is to believed.

That makes it slightly larger. Idk why mine's so cramped then :D

What's your boost clock btw?

According to the site supposed to be 1074 MHz. If so, that's neat. I can only get 980 (which is max Asus set)

Hey Boyce05,

You alredy have a pretty decent gaming build. You could add more memory and upgrade the GPU plus add a SSD for the OS and the more demanding applications and games. Gaming relies on the storage's performance only for the loading times and auto-saves, and FPS and graphics are not affected at all. This is what I'd do. I'd also check the health status of the HDD just to be on the safe side that your data is safe. I would recommend using WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=HOqVnh

Captain_WD.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
