I'm going to be using graphical applications and web design along with a fair bit of gaming on a wide variety of games.

I mainly need help with making sure that I am getting a good pc and I would like to be able to keep this one for a while with only having to upgrade maybe the GPU and possibly water cooling but apart from that I don't want to do much that is why I went with the newer CPU and MOBO that supports DDR4:

my budget is about £1000(UK)-$1300(USA)

any advise or comments are greatly appreciated

WARNING*if you suggest something and I don't understand why I am sorry I may question you if you don't put an explanation as I want to get more into the hardware side of pc's

Do your apps use CUDA ?

If not, then a R9 390 might be better

I would also get a newer mobo with usb 3,1

Also your build is horribly unbalanced, a 5820k with 8gb ram and no ssd is kind of dumb

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

You should at least get 16 gigs of ram if you are getting a cpu like a 5820k. You should also water cool your cpu. You could do that by swapping the r5 with a less expensive one

CPU:Intel Core i3 3210 Mobo:MSI B75MA-E33  GPU:Intel 2500 HD Graphics  SSD:Adata SP600 128gb  HDD:Seagate 1tb 7200rpm

PSU:Corsair CX430   Case:Antec ASK4000bU3  Monitor:Dell S2240l 21.5 inch 1080p

Are you planing to overclock? If so get a better cooler, maybe a Dark Rock Pro 3 or a Corsair H100i GTX. Also, as for what @Mihemine said, if it is much more expensive then don't bother. You can always add an expansion card for USB 3.1 into your PC later. I would bump up the RAM to 16GB if you can, just for things like what you are doing can use more. Also why not add a 18GB SSD onto that storage? SOmething like the Samsung 840 EVO only costs £40 and lets the OS(windows) boot a LOT faster.

I feel like you are really strething here. If you had $1500-$1600 USD x99 might make sense, for instance 8GB or ram is kinda comical on X99, and you have a small HDD and no SSD. You can just go Z97 and get a 4790k which won't give you quite as much UMPH when rendering, but will be better in games and for basic web browsing and stuff anyway especially with a bit of an overclock. Then you can go with 2x8GB of RAM and will have space for 32 if you ever need it still, plus you can add an SSD, more storage, and maybe a bigger and better PSU (for fanless modes or future upgrade paths)

CPU:  Intel i7-4790K      Cooler:  Noctua NH-D14     GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1070 TI MINI     Motherboard:  ASUS Z97 Gryphon     RAM:  32GB G Skill Trident X

Storage: 2x 512GB Samsung 850 EVO (RAID 0) / 2TB Seagate Barracuda     PSU: 850W EVGA SuperNova G2     Case: Fractal Design Node 804

one of my apps use CUDA(sorry i should of said) and i have heard bad things about the 390 and i also prefer the green team

would you say for the mobo a Asus X99-S ATX Motherboard which does not have 3.1 but I'm doing fine with 5gb/s and i also generally transfer everything wireless

and I shall add another 8gb as two people have now said to add it, also my budget is right on top of my budget and this is just to start off, for a couple months and then I will get a SSD

also thank you for your comment

i'm planning to overclock at a later time when my budget has expanded a little bit more but for now i will be fine with stock temps and as the extreme editions dont come with a stock cpu cooler i put the hyper evo in there because who doesn't like it? and i will add 8 more gigs and i like the idea of the expansion card along with the SSD for the OS thanks for the helpful ideas !

as so many people have said it I shall add the 8gb of ram but for the space there isn't much need as I store it all on line mainly and use my friends NAS 8x4gb is 32gb of ram so i can fit 32gb overall with 4gb sticks, for the ssd i will be doing what Bob jim said which is to get a 40gb one and use it to launch the OS. also thanks for the recommendation of the 4790k but it seems if i add the extra ram then I shall be good to use the 5820k and thanks for the comment

water cooling isn't a priority at the moment as i won't be doing any OC'ing probably and I enjoy the look of the R5 and i think its a mid market case that looks good which is also a factor :D and i will get 16 gigs of ram.

Thank you for the advice.

Yes, with X99 you can still get 32GB with 4GB sticks. Another option to consider is waiting for a sale on a 500GB SSD if you really don't need a lot in the way of space locally. But that might be a stretch and I don't know how pricing compares in your region. In the US, $150 dollars would get the job done with a sale.

well for the short term i may get the 40gb for the OS and then in the future upgrade to a 500gb if I find one on sale :)

Sure, that can work and used 40GB or even 64GB ones aren't too hard to get ahold of. My point was you MIGHT not even need that 1TB drive if you are willing to swap out game installs and store files on the NAS (you can also backup steam game files to the NAS and then reinstall them pretty quickly). It was just an option since you might pay $25 for the tiny SSD and $50 for the 1TB, this might allow you to pay $150 for something that could work better even. Then again that is a budget stretch and I don't know how pricing correlates. And SSDs only keep getting cheaper.

Well if it's CUDA then keep the 970.

The 390 is a perfectly capable card, and beats the 970, there is no reason in your case to not take it except if you use CUDA ( and you do )
