SSD to Laptop

Go to solution Solved by lani100,

Hello,

I have a laptop: "Samsung np530u4c-s03il" and an SSD "SanDisk Extreme SSD II".

Without voiding the warranty, how can I know if I can switch the HDD that I have now with that SSD?

(The laptop is thin, so im not sure if this will fit in).

If this will not fit, what SSD (model) I can buy that will fit?

PS:

We do not have any samsung support here, so I cant ask them...

Thanks in advance,

Amit

This laptop uses a normal HDD so the SSD should fit fine.

But it might void your warranty but that's up to you.

Get a tower PC, plug both the SSD and the HDD into it, and use a drive cloning tool to clone the content of the HDD to the SSD.

It would probably void the warranty, but if any problem comes up, you can just put the HDD back, and pretend it was always there.

I know how to clone, just asked if that ssd specifically will fit

Thanks!

It will void it, I dont mind voiding it, but I dont wanna void it and then not able to switch the drives, that will be foolish  :)

So apparently opening it up does not void the warranty, but changing it does.

It is not a normal HDD (by size at least) - it is very small.

Questions:

Does that change anything?

What is that connector? My SSD is Sata 3 I believe, will that work?

It is a weird SATA to laptop adapter. Yes, it will work with any SSD. You have to unplug the big thing off the hard drive (not the small connector on the laptop), and then you can plug your SSD in instead.

Even if changing it voids the warranty, I highly doubt anyone will be able to tell if you put the HDD back.
