This is my second gaming computer build and I plan to not make some of the same mistakes again.  I picked the G3258 because it's cheap and unlike it's Athlon counterpart, it can be upgraded in the future without the purchase of a new motherboard.  I plan to be overclocking it and that's why I picked the Z97 motherboard and CM Hyper 212+.

With my current computer (that I will be selling to a friend of mine) I have a 500GB HDD, quite a wasteful purchase in my opinion because I've never even used over a 1/5th of the drive.  I have a habit of deleting games after I'm done with them, same goes with programs.  That's why I chose a 250GB SSD, and Samsung seems to be the brand to go with after my research.

In my current computer I have a Radeon HD 6850, which at the time did what I wanted it to do (play Minecraft, hey at the time that was the game to be playing).  I should've spent the extra money so I could play more games with very pleasant graphics settings at a stable FPS.  All I'm playing right now is Smite, and other various games.  I know a GTX 960 should have absolutely no problem running Smite, but I don't want to feel like I need to upgrade in two years because I have to play new games at low to medium settings.

This covers the big points and I hope it shows that I have done a moderate amount of research.  Before I pull the trigger I wanted to know what people who live and breath this kind of stuff think.

Thank you for your time! :D

I was looking at the 600w version of the PSU I put in the build, but decided against it when I chose the GTX 960.  Are there any 500w modular (or semi-modular) power supplies that you recommend?  I don't feel like dealing with a non-modular PSU again lol

@MrSpeed, I was seriously considering the R9 280 (I think it was the Sapphire one for 170~ USD), but when I decided on the ASRock motherboard I decided I would use a bit of money saved there to go for a GTX 960.  In the benchmarks I was looking at they seemed to be pretty close.  Thank you for the power supply suggestion though!

Would 520w be enough to safely run a r9 280 (possibly going to get overclocked too)?  In one of the Newegg reviews a guy says that his 550w barely cuts it, now who knows what's in the rest of his build, but I don't want to be caught in a situation where I need a bigger PSU after the fact.

I hadn't even looked at the R9 380!  I did a bit of research on it and found that people are still up in arms over Nvidia vs. AMD (surprising how little has changed there), but they seem to be pretty close cards.  The GTX 960 drawing less power and creating less heat personally has a bit of a advantage to me.  I also looked at the case (something I seemed to overlook the first time you posted the build, my bad).  My current case is an NZXT Gamma and while I like their cases I just like the design of the 200r more and it's something I don't really know how to explain.  Thank you for your suggestion! :D
