Kind of curious what people around here would think of trying to set up an Nvidia Jetson unit as a general use desktop. Obviously this is both fairly insane and not exactly price efficient, but I mean, as an enthusiast of small hardware with weird amounts of power, I think it's a fun idea. I probably couldn't be asked to drop 200$USD on it myself, but am kind of curious if anyone else has more enthusiast balls than I do.

What OS would you guys think about running on it, Arch, Android etc? Or maybe if not for a desktop, what other practical use could you find for it?

We where using this board as a part of our bachelor thesis.

We where running Linux and it runned quite fluid, but we only used it for programming / working and a bit of browsing. Also we made some drivers to communicate with a selfmade modul.

Sadly the documentation is extremly bad, and you get absolutely zero supprot from Nvidia. The driver source-code provided by Nvidia has next to no coments and there is no documentation. We managed to complete the required tast, but it was very unpleasand to work with.

If you need a smal box for daily stuff, get an itel NUC. Otherwise look for an ITX / MATX system.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil
