Nexus 5 Display !?!?!?!?

Go to solution Solved by Stuff_,

Damn, looks like something bad happened.

I would turn it off, and leave it off for a few hours and see if it still looks like that.

If it does, it's likely ruined. Not sure how or why, but a replacement display assembly isn't that expensive. They are like $50.

It was fine a couple hours ago, left it on my wireless charger while I was in the shower.

Now the color around the edges is all messed up.

EDIT: Seems like the backlight flickers when the brightness is turned up all the way

Try to claim a replacement under your warranty. Call your mobile carrier.

this looks to be a thermal issue and wireless chargers do get hot. I would send it back.

I bought it November 2013 from the google play store.

How do I send it back?

Email Google about the issue. Tell them that you were using the phone on a wireless charger and then this happened. They will probably send you another email for extra information and stuff, and then probably give you a prepaid shipping label to send it to them.

Left it off for a day, it is perfectly fine now..

There is a slight chance that the LCD driver chip had an issue with the power output by the wireless charger. I have usually seen this as a thermal issue on thr LCD though. I charge my N5 and N7 every night on a wireless charger. But it is a half decent one from Amazon, not a derpy one from China. Sometimes China will omit components on a board as long as it still functions at all just to save cost, and sometimes devices cannot handle it (out of spec voltages, electrically noisy signals, ect). My 16$ one from amazon is a much better design than my brother's 3$ one from China. Mine charges faster and doesn't even get warm.

That's strange & I use the wireless charger from google. I think it was ~$50
