Hello,

I have a 520W PSU and was wondering if it would be able to run a Gigabyte R9 290 Windforce edition.

It says it has a 450W cooling system and my current system without the GPU included it uses under max load 210W.

So I was wondering if it would be fine or should I upgrade my PSU aswell?

Thanks in advance.

PSU will be fine provided it's a quality model.

The 450w cooling thing is just marketing for the cooler on the GPU itself. All it means is it can handle up to 450watts of heat, nothing to do with power consumption. :)

I have a Seasonic 520W S12 II Bronze 80...

That's more than enough, no need to worry with that at all. :)

That unit gives around 480w accross the two 12v rails alone. The GPU requires around 280w to operate at full load. That leaves 200w for the rest of the system which is more than enough.

It is not going to cause troubles if my PC is on for around 12 hours a day and cause hardware failures.

I'm guessing you used a stress testing program to get your power consumption for the system in the OP?

I can guarantee you won't ever reach those numbers under normal use/load situations. Stress testers are designed to run your stuff way harder than you ever could. It'll be fine. :)

Oh that's even better then, those calculators always over-estimate what you need.

to put into perspective, My entire system in my signature under absolute full load while overclocked consumes 400w from the wall.

PSU wattage calculators are essentially random bullshit generators. It makes for a fun drinking game - guess how much the thing will say for random combinations. It's not so fun if you're not drunk though :D
