I'm going on a trip in which I will be in the car for 20 hours. 1,300 miles. I will be using Google Maps for the entire way except when it says to go 100 miles in one direction. I'll turn it off then but I'll turn it back on when it tells you something else. How much data will I use?

It won't use much at all

whats your data plan?

as long it isn't <100MB i doubt you will notice to much change.

Don't use it. Go for something more reliable than a data connection and google maps. Have you tried Here Maps? They work on everything, won't kill your battery and have full offline maps for free. They are far superior to anything anyone has to offer. Part of the Nokia division MS, Apple and a few others tried to buy but they wouldn't sell. :)

You might be able to download maps for offline use if need be.

Im guessing you will be using it as a GPS? Not sure, but if youre gonna use it 20hours non stop it will use alot.

Reviews are terrible. Google Maps is the most accurate thing out there for me so that's what I'm using.

I'll stick with my Google Maps.

Thank you. During my trip I'll go to my settings and watch how much data I'm using.

Just load it up as a backup service, download maps so you have them locally, it's never bad to have a backup plan in any case.

As far as data goes, I'm not sure which device you are using, but you can cap your own data so it doesn't hit your providers data cap, just in case, be cautious and have a safe trip. :)

I use Google Maps for long trips all the time. Typically I'll save large sections of cities on my route for offline use. The GPS signal uses no data. The data part comes from accessing the map and what all is on it. Not that much data, but if you're worried, just save the harder-to-navigate areas for offline. The transitory routes won't need much navigation
