cat6/5 crossover cables

Can the cat6/5 crossover cables also be used as internet cables and not just for 2 computers to communicate with each other?

I7-6700k, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, 2 x 8GB Corsair Dominator Plantinum ram, ASUS GTX 960 STRIX, sound blaster zx, 1TB boot drive ssd, 128GB/256GB storage ssd, 1TB storage HDD, 4TB of storage (backup),Windows 10 Pro,1000w psu

Yes, they can if your network switch or router integrated network switch supports the Auto-MDIX standard, which it normally should. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-MDIX#Auto-MDIX

 

Just plug it in and see if it works. That's normally faster than digging through the manual :D
