Which monitor would be the better buy?

Go to solution Solved by TheKDub,

So I'm looking to buy a new monitor and was looking at 1440p ones when I came across this the BenQ XL2730Z and the Asus MG279Q. Both of them have 144hz refresh rates and have Freesync, but the BenQ one is a TN panel and the Asus is an IPS panel. Also the BenQ has a 1ms response time and the Asus one has a 4 ms time. So I'm planning to do photo editing and gaming, so I was wondering which monitor would be the better buy since they're both $600. Finally are there any downsides to having a TN panel and vice versa.

Get the IPS.

The response rate difference will not be noticeable.

TN - worse colors and viewing angles.

IPS - Slower response time.

when you say photo-editting, you just answered your own question :P ips is great for colors making it great for photo editing. you wont really tell the difference between 5ms and 1ms unless you really try to.
