Hello, Lately I have been noticing with my XFX Radeon 7950 that the temperatures have been getting much toastier than they have been before. During a typical Battlefield 4 game, it reaches 77*C, I worry a little because a few months ago, it was running around 60*C. I have taken the card out and cleaned out all of the dust and that has not affected anything. The Card has a pretty beefy cooler with 2 fans, and i recently installed a 200mm side panel fan blowing directly onto the card. Could it just be because the card is getting older? The card is at stock settings @ 925MHz on the core and 1250 on the memory, I would like to overclock it a little but I fear the temperatures will get way to high.

Thanks

Replace that side panel fan.

If your card is using a standard setup it will vent air from the sides, and front of the card. Which means if you have air blowing in from the side it can work against the actual cooling fans on the cooler. If you can, more it under the card to pump air to the fans, or above the card, to blow air ontop of the back of the card.

Secondly, you might consider swapping the thermal compound on the card. It could be that the thermal compound on there has dried out, and thusly not performing as well.

Don't bother changing thermal paste, that's not something that will dry out unless the card has been taken apart previously (And if you did take it apart for cleaning make sure you replaced that paste) or the cooler wasn't properly attached. Also agreeing with Atmos about the side fan, take it out, use something on the bottom if possible. What case is the system in?
