Hey guys (and girls, if there's any)

So I've gotta get an Intel processor (LGA1155) for my PC.
My motherboard is a ASRock H61M VG3, and supports i7/i5/i3 2nd and 3rd generations.

I can't go expensive and get a i7, so I'm between the i3 and i5.

Which of those, and which generation should I get?
It will run with 4GB RAM DDR3 1333MHz Single channel, and (until I get some money) a Nvidia GT 210.

Thanks for your time!

You can find used i5-2500's for pretty cheap, it will work great for gaming :) an i5-3570 will work great too, but will cost more.

You may find some processors that end with "K" like the 2500K, but it isn't worth the money because your motherboard probably does not support overclocking

Surprisingly enough it does. I have a similar H61 running an i3. The board doesn't have robust options, but they are there.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should, I question the power of the VRMs on that board (especially speaking they don't even have a proper heatsink)

Obviously. But still the fact the options are there on an el cheapo board is impressive.

Agreed, I honestly think the option should be there on almost any board
