if i get a 390x, would i be able to run a nvidia gpu for physx?

I don't know if it's changed since I last did this, (used a gts 250 & an equivalent Radeon) but I was able to run physx on the nvidia.

Unfortunately, there's hardly anything out that would take advantage of this. Linus even did aa video where the second gpu barely made a difference offset a current gen gpu. (At the time of filming).

Unless you're benchmarking physx specifically, this is aa waste of hardware anymore.

It used to be possible, until Nvidia released their 285.79 drivers and their 9.11.1107 physx drivers. What you did was run your AMD card as the primary GPU, and an Nvidia card running as a dedicated PhysX card. I'm not sure if it's still possible, but you can install the PhysX drivers and run PhysX off the CPU. PhysX however is horribly optimized for running on a system CPU as opposed to a dedicated GPU.

It was a great solution for those wanting to upgrade from the 400Nvidia series to the 5000 AMD series, and still be able to use your older Nvidia card in certain games.

On a different note, in this abomination of a thread created by a mad scientist. Why did you link a 390 video and write about the 380? Which one are you talking about?

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD1: Corsair MP510 1TB

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

PSU: Corsair AX860i Platinum
