Hello everyone,

a friend of mine is looking to upgrade his PC, he lives in Canada and has about 400-450$ to spend on the upgrades.

Here are his current specs :

- ASUS M3A mother board AMD770 Chipset

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ - Processor

Insignia NS-PCW5250-C - (520w PSU)

3GB DDR2 Ram

- GTX 750Ti

I think that the GPU is still fine for the games he plays (mostly simulators), so he was thinking of upgrading the CPU, motherboard, RAM and HDD.

Here's what I picked so far :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($83.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Total: $428.95
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

He doesn't want to order from too many retailers, so only 1-2 would be ideal.

My questions now :

- Is this the best way to spend his money with his current specs?

- Should be the PSU be upgraded? Is there any risk of having it break, I never heard of that brand before, and damage other components?

Thanks for your help :)

Thanks for the quick replies, would this do the trick ? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-power-supply-sp550pcbus

yes, but i would recommend modular or semi-modular. Its not needed but its nice to have so you have have easy cable management.
