Question.

A Strix 980 being shipped acorss country (Toronto to BC).

GPU has already been used so the anti static bag where it was on originaly is long gone. Can I just ship it with its original box with its foam inside and ship it? Or do I have to get an anti-static bag? If I cannot find or buy one is there an alternative?

(Noticed my 980ti SC from EVGA was only put in a plastic clam shell thing (By EVGA packaging). No static bag. So I thought maybe anti-static bags really arent needed)

Thanks!

Make sure its WELL protected in a box. I've seen so really bad things happen to GPU's that are not well protected and shipped. I have had it happen to me before with a 6970 Lighting :| card looked like it thrown at a wall and the box was destroyed.

Do you have a spare motherboard anti-static bag you could put it in? Do you still have the plastic casing the card came in?

As I have said its loong gone. Though I have the bags that came with my ROG Swift. Are thoes anti static bags?

No, those are most likely just bags that protects the surface from scratches and scuffs -- and are probably not anti-static.

Anti-static protection is one of the major protections needed, since the electronic components are not protected by an enclosure.

I'm sure you can purchase anti-static bags from your postal office. Another option is to ask around (i.e. friends, local PC shops, etc).

How about these.

Found this in my motherboard box. Its not a bag but I can wrap the GPU around it. Its the size of the Mobo so assume its used for it and perhaps Anti-Static?

This one came with the ROG Swift, maybe wires? Is it Anti-Static?

Last one is where the ROG Swift is actually wraped with.

Its going to be an Xpresspost server anyway. I'm not to worried since its priority.

The only part I am worried is the Anti-static bag thing. Is it really needed? Or is it fine to just pack it in its own box (Asus Strix 980) with its foam thing, w/o Anti-static bag. Since my 980ti (SC-Refefence from EVGA) came w/o an anti-static bag. Just a clamshell plastic to hold it in its box. Thats why I was wondering if Anti-static really is necessary?
