HELP!!!

It has been a long time since i have been planning to get a gaming pc & to be honest im am tired of choosing parts for what i need.

I would like suggestions on what i would need for a gaming pc.

the main things i would be doing on my pc are:

  • 1080p 60hz gaming
  • games i am planning to play are: GTA V, CS:GO, far cry 4, Battlefield 3 & future games
  • light video editing for YouTube
  • running 2 screens (1920x1080 & 1440x900[i think])
  • does not overheat much (i know it probably wont but this current laptop is a pain in the ass with overheating)

i would like something with at least a intel quad core & i would like a Nvidia GPU but AMD could be okay as well

memory speed i don't mind but something with about 8GB minimum

storage i would like an SSD but not too small, & HHD i would want something big to store the games, programs etc on

cooling i would not care if liquid or air cooled.

My budget is about $2000 max or just a little over.

any suggestions ill keep in mind once i have the chance to buy the parts to build my pc

Thanks LinusTechTips Community  :)

Now I threw in a Gigabyte G1 980ti, which works great, and looks ok with the build (As it is black). But there is a combination that matches the build better as far as aesthetics, and keeps the same performance. The difference is you have to set up SLI to do it.

I like this, it's the MSI 970 which by itself can run 1080p 60fps High+ Settings in almost every game, and when put in SLI matches the 980ti in performance. The biggest difference is they completely looks amazing with the MSI Black/White board.

And here is the video comparing the 970 SLI with the 980 ti, so you can see they do perform the same, except the 970 will look much better with the build.

I was originally looking at the MSI SLI motherboard, it is in my thought of getting it. I have no thought of getting the GTX 980 Ti as I thought it is a bit overkill on what I need. The rest of the build I do like, and I'll try and mix it up a bit with the other suggestions I have been given.

I see you also have the i7 4790K currently in your build, out of curiosity have you overclocked it and by how much.

Thanks. :)

Yea, the 980 ti is overkill for 1080p 60fps. Which is why I recommended the 970. IDK where to get that MSI one I linked, as they just advertised it at CES 2015. But I know it would look great with that board and will handle 1080p 60fps High+ settings perfectly.

I have it overclocked mildly. Usually people go to 1.3v, I only went to 1.26v and got it up to 4.7ghz. I can get it to do 4.8, but I like my temps to stay below 70c, cause I live in a hotter State. :P
