Frozen PC Problems...?

Go to solution Solved by MadManMarsBar,

maybe its your harddrive? The same problem occured on my Brothers pc very often, he had a Seagate Barracuda 1TB, and it was also slow, but replacing the HDD with A Samsung 840 evo completely fixed the problem, no crash whatsoever since then. Also you could reinstall Windows completely if you have an external HDD to copy all your data on there.

ive never had problems with HDD's with my OS on ?

i dont think her problem is HDD related

Heya guys!

I've been having some weird problems in regards to my PC becoming frozen at random times during multiple occasions. Today alone, my PC has froze 6 times for reasons I can't pinpoint. It froze at the login screen when I was turning on my PC as well as when I was using different applications such as Microsoft Word, iTunes and Google Chrome. In the past, I had Steam up and Firefox and it had crashed. I have reinstalled Steam, but it did not fix the problem. I have since uninstalled Firefox to see if Google Chrome would be a better application choice, but that did not seem to work. I can't seem to figure out which application it could be or if there is another underlying problem in this scenario. PLEASE feel free to ask if you have any questions. I will provide some of my specs below as well. Thanks in advance for the help!

My specs:

CPU: i7-4790 @ 3.6 GHz

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Motherboard: MSI Z97 SLI Krait Edition

GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GTX 960 4GB SSC

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 MHz (2 - 4 GB)

HDD: Seagate 1TB

PSU: EVGA 500W 80+

WiFi Adapter: TP-LINK N600 WiFi Card

OS: Windows 8.1

Try to run a good malware test (avira is a good free option) and then come back

Would you recommend for me to de-fragment my HDD? Did your brother try that option? Just curious to see if that would be a possibility if my HDD is a problem or not. I would prefer not to buy another HDD or SSD if it isn't necessary. I will in the future, but I want to avoid having to if possible.

I agree.

I used Malwarebytes because I'm familiar with the program.
