Hi,

I have been looking at my SSD storage on my computer for quite some time now and I wonder what would take up a lot of space on it. I have windows installed on that SSD, with some other programs and files. However, my computer says I have around 35 gigabytes og storage left so I started to wonder what would be so space consuming. I looked inside my SSD and highlighted all of the folders inside. In total there was around 45 gigabytes of space used. Im just wondering where did the 30 gigs of space go?

I've used disk cleanup, error checking and defragmenting of my SSD (I know it isn't useful but I wanted to check anyway), though I didn't come to any successful results of freeing up space on the SSD.

I asked my friend about this and he stated there are lots of hidden files that come with the OS or are created while using it. Though still I wonder how many files there would be to fill 30 gigs?

Cheers,

Roboslash

Use WinDirStat to see all the files and how much space everyone takes up.

Also please never ever defragment your ssds. You are basically telling them to commit digital suicide.

I'm a student currently attending the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, if you attend or around there please don't hesitate to contact me!

The tool is windirstat is great for this: https://windirstat.info/

I bet the files are hyberfil.sys and pagefile.sys if you google them you can find out options for removing them

Good luck

I downloaded it today. Basically 40% of my C drive are .sys files. Anyway to remove them or are they meant to be there? I dont want to remove any files that are vital for windows to function.
