So I got a used 5970 a week ago and after a lot of work, it finally worked. it only worked on one of my mobo slots and I had to have the extra molex plugged in.

It's going along side my main 290x, as a compute card. and for a while it worked great.

But after pulling my system apart and installing better cpu cooling, the 5970 is no longer functioning at all. Nothing. It gets warm, but thats it. no display out, windows doesnt pick it up. nothing.

What I'm hoping for though is maybe having two pumps plugged into fan headers on my mobo might be pulling too much 12v for the 5970's socket? I've ordered adapters to run the pumps off molex plugs because corsair didnt think to include this, but they wont be here for a bit...

Are my thoughts correct? or is the card somehow ded?

Anyone else have this happen to them maybe?

A bit of an update, The gpu works perfectly in another pc, running a dx38bt too, a very similar mobo. So I got the adaptor today to run the pumps off a molex and not the fan headers, and gpu still didnt work. So I pulled my 290x and ran just the 5970, trying it in the slot the 290x was in even, and nothing came up, even when I put the bios in mait. mode, nothing.

And that was about the time I noticed my hard drive started clicking...

Somehow it killed that sata port or something, The drive works fine in an external dock.

I then put my 290x and my old 7870 in and it picks them both up and works normally.

I literally cant even right now.

This board is known to work with 5970s too...
