I am ordering a new CPU cooler and was thinking about ordering some thermal paste as well, but I have a 7-month old tube of Arctic Silver MX-4 lying around. Is it okay to use it, or should I get something like the Noctua NT-H1?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yeah it will be fine if you kept the cap on. My MX-4 is that old and is fine.

Is it Arctic Cooling MX-4 or Arctic Silver 5? Either way you should be fine.

Arctic Cooling MX-4. I heard that Noctua makes the best thermal paste, but is the difference between the NT-H1 and the MX-4 really that big? Is it worth ordering new paste or can I stick with my current one?

There isn't a reason to get new thermal paste if you alreeady have some. The difference is nearlly non existing and you won't see any much performace gain

I remember watching one of TTL's CPU cooler reviews and he mentioned something like "Don't get Arctic Silver MX-4 that stuff is ancient" lol

That was MX-2, and even that you can still use. I use it on a regular basis, and have had no problems.
