Xeon gaming pc build?
Is the system just for gaming? If so, get a 4670k.
The Ivy bridge xeon is basically a locked multiplier 4770 without integrated graphics and doesn't come with a stock fan. It's nice if you need the threads but not as optimal as other choices for gaming. It works just as well as an i7 clocked to the same speed would though. You do not need a 'server mobo'--there's not really such a thing. A server is just a computer you make to be one and you call it a server. Also, you shouldn't get a z77 mobo with a xeon since the z77 mobo is for overclocking and the xeon is not. You should be looking at b75's and h77's instead.
The reason why the things you read only mentions quadros. It's because xeons are good for workstation related things for their price and less for gaming.
My recommendation regardless of whether you're just gaming or not is to just get a 8320 or 8350 and an aftermarket cooler. Depending on your plans and your tastes, I'd suggest a Hyper 212 Evo, NH-D14, or h100i.
