1080p 144hz Gsync

Guest Console Peasant

AUD, honestly at this point i dont know how much I want to spend, really getting annoying

Also at which point does the framerate look like its 144hz on gsync? Is it 30fps?

Also I noticed that for IPS it has to be high ms response, why is this, is there any with low ms and ips?

I kinda prefer IPS but the monitors are already really expensive

If your GPU is capable of rendering 144FPS to the monitor, it'll be displayed at 144Hz. What G-Sync and FreeSync do is sync the monitor to the GPU so you don't get stutter or increased input lag. In regards to the IPS panels, it's the way the technology works - it's not as fast as TN when it comes to switching pixels to various colors.

It's subjective, and hard to pinpoint any exact numbers really. I'd guess 100fps would feel like normal 144Hz, but it's just a guess.

40Hz feels like 60Hz. At 30Hz you can feel that it's lower though.

IPS monitors change colors slightly slower than TN panels, but even the slower end of modern IPS panels can still get down to 8ms or even 4ms. So response time is not really an issue.

i thought there was a range in which it looks 144hz/60hz

which is why i might go 60hz, but appearently 144hz is just amazing.. im getting a 970 to support it

Yes, there is a range, but the monitor is still syncing with the GPU.

so on a 144hz panel does 40fps feel like 60, and does 100 feel like 144hz? Does 60 feel like 100 then? Cuz maybe then I can get the 40-60 that will be useful in demanding games, as well as the glorious 144hz

first.... depending on your set up, if your pc cant render 144fps then having gsync on a 144hz monitor is POINTLESS... if you can render 144fps on max settings for your games, then i guess you can use gsync but gsync is ONLY used to stop vertical tearing by syncing the refresh rate of the monitor with the real time FPS rendering on the gpu... but unless your running fps higher then the hz rating of the monitor then you dont need it. just by having a 144hz monitor you will see a HUGE improvement in screen lag and shadowing, i currently use triple 27" 1440p 144hz ****FREESNYC* monitors on nvidia gpus, and i have no issues as all.

in all honestly gsync is a $300 chip used to make you spend more money for something not needed. if your pc renders faster then your monitor then get a better monitor and higher resolution... if your pc cant render the refresh rate of the monitor then lower your settings of upgrade the video card... gsync is for those who dont know how to plan out their pc the right way

Bullshit. Just because your system can usually render 144FPS doesn't mean it always will. G-Sync and FreeSync both provide aid in that regard.
