My first PC build! :D

I am going to be ordering all of the parts to my computer tomorrow. This is my first build, I have been using an iMac all my life and have decided to switch over to PC. I just wanted to make sure all the parts I chose are good quality. Here are the specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dQWGgs

No budget is not an issue, I am perfectly fine with the price its at.

Just a suggestion, go with the Asus Strix 980 or the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980 graphics card, you'll get better performance than the reference card. Other than that amazing looking build and make sure you to take all precautions by grounding yourself and having a clean work space!!! Good luck and happy building!

Great set of parts! But why the i7 and not an i5? Planning to do video editing and things of that sort?

Yeah if you are gaming only you don't need an i7, sadly more and more people are seeming to make the i7 over i5 thing for gaming PC's it seems :V.

 

if you are doing a bit more than that like editing (i mean you did use a mac) then an i7 is pretty good C:

Personally I see more people going with i7's over i5's these days because they want the best experiene. Yeah you can get a really good experience gaming with an i5 but look at someone who wants to mod the hell out of a game like GTA 5, or some of the newer games that will be coming out this year. Heavy modding can benefit from a stronger CPU and if you have the money why not? You know yourself that if you could afford to buy the most expensive hardware for a PC you would.

I wish I could afford two gpus right now. I wouldn't really benefit because of my CPU but eh still would love to have it.

Could I use this to install windows 8.1 since my case doesn't have a spot for an optical drive?

haha yeah. Budget wise and if it was just for gaming an i5-4690k would be perfect and just use your money on the GPU and a good monitor. Me personally I'd probably get the same stuff as this guy just because I'd like to have the power and I do like to edit videos occasionally.

I'm pretty sure you could, I don't see why not. Optical Drives aren't really needed very much anymore anyway unless you do edit videos and have to burn copies of them onto discs or something. You could always try to find someone who has windows on a flash drive and install that way.

Looks awesome but the 390X is better than 980 unless you want green team for some reason...

 

Did I also mention the 390X was cheaper?
