What is this for?

This came with my Maximus VII Hero motherboard but I can't figure out where on my motherboard it goes. I've had my PC built for almost a year but I still don't know.

IIRC That is just extension to help you connect the front panel, no need to use it.

Exactly this. But I'd save it if you get and old case with Front USB connector that connects pin by pin

For some reason that I don't know they decided to give the speaker separately instead of being integrated in the mb like before

Mine beeps because my case came with a speaker so I connected it...

Well, as long as it boots it's fine, but if you've connected the speaker and doesn't beep that a really bad sign and doesn't boot. Also don't Maximus series come with a LED debug screen?

Some MOBOs have little led screen to show error codes, some comes with a separate little speaker like on the pic from @79 Potatoes and some doesn't have it at all. But it means nothing, all of these solutions is just to show error codes, if your PC runs without problems, you're just fine.

its not a bad thing. Most motherboards I see nowadays just have LED's for troubleshooting

I've heard this sentence many times before, not from people like you, on a tech forum with 2k+ posts.

My PC doesn't beep, I know my OLD OLD one did. It is usually just used if there is a problem with the PC it would beep to let you know that something is wrong and to stop turning it off and on.

You have a debug LED screen instead of the speaker. Top right on the motherboard.

Don't worry, if there's a problem it's easy to search the error code in the manual. (talking about the LED debug display)

There's not an error. There's AO which means all operational so everything is good.

like my cooler master centurion 5. 

each and every littole connector is single pin. (except a seolect few which are only 1x2 alighnment, and still require other connection)
