Hey i have been playing PS2 for about 10 days now and it takes so long to get cert points. is there any fast ways to get them. i have seem some people say the big battles are the best place but my comp runs at 5FPS in big battles so i have to stick to the small 5 on 5 type batlles or i cant play and it takes for ever to get cert points.

thanks

You gets certs by killing or getting objectives. Also by loginning in. I glitch i noticed was that if you login at 12:45 and you get say 12 cert points and then you login at 1:01 then you get 10 cert points. Login again at 10:00am and get a bunch there. I need to get more ram before i can play it, had 8gb and one stick fried randomly so i run out of memory a lot.

Is the game really that badly optimized? I have been wanting to try it but I've heard horror stories of how bad it runs

In 100+ Player fights my PC runs at 35+ fps... or even less....

I can max the game easily. Trouble is that i only have 4gb ram so the game freezes every 30seconds as the ram is maxed out however fraps still records 80fps. Hopefully my new ram sticks comes soon. 4gb isnt enough for planetside 2.

they literally HATE amd cpu's. and amd gpu's.

if you have either. don't even try to play unless you play at very low. otherwise your computer will spontaneously fuck itself in the exhaust ports.

I don't see FPS as to much of a problem for me however I have seen low twenties on a couple of occasions, mainly biolabs during alerts. I get about 75 certs an hour (excluding alerts)on average but it depends what class I run and a lot of different things. The best place to get certs is in big battles because there are so many people to kill/heal/repair etc. You can pay to get more certs by either buying boosts or membership from the Depot but once you get a nice class set-up the certs will come faster as you will gain more XP (250XP = 1 cert). I nice one to do is a medic, uprade your armour and rez tool a bit and you'll be set. Also, I don't know about other factions but in the NC the best stock gun is the medic's. Another good way to get certs is by joining an outfit and working together to win alerts (win = 10000XP = 40 certs) a well organised faction can easily win. Furthermore, NC FTW.

PlanetSIde 2 is a fun game once you can get some decent FPS. This sometimes gets messed up pretty bad because they are changing and adding new stuff all the time. This is where the the horror stories come from, when something gets broken. They usually fix it and optimize it again pretty quickly.

As for certs, I find it best to find a small platoon or a single squad of people that are taking bases. The one I run with usually stays away from big bases, which if you can find one like that, should help with your FPS problems with big bases.

Also, get yourself a good gun. The basic guns from Vanu are usually pretty good. The The TR's mini-chaingun is good. NS-11, GR-22, and any SMGs or Shotguns are a good fallback if you don't know what to get.

For some FPS fixing, put shadows to low, change the render quality, and change the render distance.

Puting Shadows to low actually give worse FPS, if you have an average GPU put everything at max.
