I recently purchased an ROG SWIFT (PG278Q) monitor. So far I love the experience while gaming, but there is one little issue I have been having and I'm not sure if this is supposed to occur with g-sync panels, or if I'm doing something wrong.

I was using two vg248 monitors before I switched to using the swift as my primary monitor. During this time I could alt tab rapidly out of games and back in without hardly any slowness or lag.

Now, with the swift when I switch between a game window and a desktop, or chrome I get this really heavy spike of lag, where I can't do anything (sound works). This happens going to and from my game window. When I go back to my game window I show 1 fps for about 3-5 seconds and the game is frozen, and then it goes back to running perfectly as ever.

If anybody has any information to help me, that would be grand!

Thanks!

P.S. - Here are my specs in case there is anything else that could cause this issue in my PC

Asus z97-pro

4790k

h110 cooler

16gb corsair vengeance 1600

samsung 840 evo boot drive (with the update to fix that slowness issue that crept up half a year ago or so)

2 intel 730 SSD 240gb in raid 0

Nvidia 980 ti x2 (a bit overkill for 1440p I know)

hx1000i PSU

EDIT:

So I tried a few things, and as of right now things seem to be working even more smoothly than they were when I was on my two other monitors, maybe this will shed some light for somebody else who is having similar issues.

I turned on extreme OD in the (amazingly fast) OSD. I'm not sure if that part helped, but I did it and didn't test until I did this next thing.

I went into nVidia control panel and switched monitor technology from G-sync to ULMB and tested, things were smooth, I switched back to g-sync and things seem to be running fine now.

I appreciate anybody who had started to look up stuff to help me or do any research, but for now I think I got this solved.
