Powerline Not Working

A few days ago I bought "TRENDnet TPL-408E2K 500 Mbps AV2 Powerline Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Twin Pack".

To be honest, I only found out a week ago that powerline's existed and I'm still pretty amazed with the tech.

I live in the UK and have Sky Broadband, I plugged one Ethernet cable into the Sky Hub box, then the other end into the powerline plug in the wall. The same again on my pc Ethernet port and then into the wall.

All the lights on my plugs light up green, but when I load the software for Trendnet on PC, it just doesn't find any networks to join onto.

Has anybody else bought powerline adapters, had similar problems and have any solutions?

I have tried searching for people with this issue but every site just says, plug it in and it works, including the crappy instruction manual that came with the powerline adapters!

My house was built in 2005 and its from the ground floor to the first floor I am trying to use this. I assumed my PC would have good electrical wiring and be able to handle this.

They have to be on the same phase, There are 3 phases + neutral/ground.

Sorry for my signature, Im going to fix it soon.

Cant lie, I am lost with this. Does this mean I have 1phase for my ground floor wiring, and another phase for my 1st floor wiring possibly? Is there any way for me to check this if I'm understand it correctly.

Will powerlines just not work for me then? My Wifi is just too damn slow to be able to play online games and I figured a wifi booster was just a con.

Electricians will balance the load as good as possible between the phases so the energy cost become as low as possible for you, Like giving each floor different phases:

It depends on the powerline adapter, Some go on the neutral wire, In that case it would not matter what phase it is on.

Read the instructions again and see if you simply missed a step.

I have tried using a powerline adapter, It did not work when using Router > powerline adapter > switch > a couple of computers

Thanks for the response. https://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=155_TPL-408E2K#tabs-solution02

I had a look and can't find anything out on the specification about if it uses the neutral wire or not.

The company came back to me and said try syncing the plugs up in sockets next to each other then putting it back in my pc. Will give it a try and then sell the plugs if this doesn't work.

The instructions are literally one page with a picture saying just plug it in, they couldn't be less informative. :(
