I guys,

I have a lot of files in a bunch of different formats. I'm looking to buy a NAS and want to make sure that the files could be played from any device. I need to transcode everything into something most devices can read. Need an advice for a software that could do that. In a perfect world on the NAS iteself (Synology) or on the source PC. Don't care if it's not free, just need something that is not going to ruil any of the files.

Thanks.

No, seriously, its amazing. It will be a bit slow on a synology NAS, but it can work, and is usable for one-two device or so at lower resolution content. Otherwise, you can run it off of a computer and have it look at your shared folders. .
