PC build with exquisite variables

Go to solution Solved by JebKerman,

Looks good, but I might suggest some changes to the storage.

the V300 is subpar (i have one, i know, and it isn't crap, but it certainly is not the best), I'd look into some of Samsung's offerings.

and i would suggest a bigger HDD, like the 2-4 TB versions of the Seagate Barracuda, since you are doing video editing

Hello there! First post here, decided I should give it a try.

AIM -> Enthusiast video editing and some animations, audio post-production and since even God rest after the 7th day, some relaxed gaming like GTA V, Skyrim, Fallout

BUDGET-> Little bit tricky, to be explained later, but around U$D1500-1700

For those interested in helping me further on, here it is: I'm brazilian and some of you may know that prices skyrocket here. I'm willing to ask some friends to bring me those parts from USA, split in 2 turns, so to speak. So any tips regarding travelling and handling, taxes, what I shoul,d bur first and where are highly appreciated

Motherboard, PSU and the manufacturer of the video card are slightly picked by chance, I'd like to hear more from you guys! (I'm not so sure if I got through this, but GTX 980ti is my pick, the question is wether Zotac, EVGA or MSI is the best) Thanks a bunch

Thanks for your answer Jeb!

I just went for Kingston because my trusty pendrives are trusty. And nothing else, hehe. Gonna check those. The HDD might as well suffer an upgrade, but since my college offers a fair amount of storage for students throughout the year this is one end I decided to save some bucks. At least for now

In addition, and sorry if bumping posts are a malpractice, but will those run smooth together?

the SSD is just faster and a bit better overall, which will further enhance boot times and it should potentially last longer.

the HDD is simply more space, apparently 3TB is the sweet-spot for TB/$

Thanks again, Jeb! Only you answer to my topic!

I was researching some stuff and read about some concerns while using this mobo, since it's mini-ATX. Will this affect my setup? And can I trust the wattage measurement for the system in PCpart? I checked CoolerMaster calculator and it gave me 441W, so according to them, I'll be fine with the 550W Corsair. Just want to double check that, since this is my first build! I don't want to sound so insecure, but I'm the money-saver DIYer hehe

I suggest sticking with the 750W just in case. Overclocking can affect the wattage quite significantly. you probably could get by with 550 but i'd suggest at least 650.

Mini-ITX is just a bit limiting with regards to the number of ports available on it. it only has 2 slots for ram, and can only support one graphics card. While ATX can fit 4 sticks of ram, and up to 4 graphics cards (dependent on motherboard and case). It's very useful if you want something small, and fairly easy to move around.

Indeed, might as well need the overclock quite a little, then it will be needed those extra Watts. The Mini boards seems to me that are the only one with a built-in wi-fi module, any ideas which others come with wi-fi in the regular ATX dimension?

I don't think I've seen one with a built in WiFi module, but you could buy either a USB or PCI adapter, they tend to cost less than $50
