CHKDSK Horror!

Chkdsk kept bugging me to run on my 1TB WD Blue, which was almost full. One day I decided to let it run. Well, it deleted a boatload of "orphaned files." It deleted almost 600+GB of data! What could I do to get them back? In the found.000 directory there is 9.14 GB of files

Looking on google, chkdsk has been known to do this to drives. crystal disk info shows health as good. If this doesn't get resolved I will probably just have to take the loss and backup in the future. I guess lesson learned. Backup, and do not use Chkdsk.

Nothing you can do unless you want to spend days using file recovery software and unless it was important family pictures or something don't even bother.

Use a live Linux Distro! I recommend putting (insert favorite linux distro here, mine is Lubuntu!) on a cd or a flash drive and boot your PC to Linux. From there, use the disk manager to check the SMART status and run other disk check programs on the drive without it being "in use" by windows.

I've caught lots of errors in Linux that I never got warnings for with windows applications. It's saved my data more than a couple times!
